Brothers,
Your Sigma Chi Foundation is working diligently towards achieving our Mission and attaining our Vision.
Mission (who we are): “The Sigma Chi Foundation solicits financial resources, provides faithful stewardship, and engages in exemplary ethical practices in support of Sigma Chi and leadership development.”
Vision (where we are going): “The Sigma Chi Foundation is respected for the manner in which we establish expectations, and build and administer an endowment that supports leadership and scholarship programs that reach beyond Sigma Chi’s borders, in perpetuity.”
Vision (where we are going): “The Sigma Chi Foundation is respected for the manner in which we establish expectations, and build and administer an endowment that supports leadership and scholarship programs that reach beyond Sigma Chi’s borders, in perpetuity.”
It is my honor to share with you, my valued brothers, what this really means. The Foundation has in place:
An effective Strategic Plan, to move the organization towards reaching its full potential.
In January of 2007, our Board of Governors adopted a new strategic plan to move the Sigma Chi Foundation towards its leadership and scholarship vision. We have made great progress since then, completing objectives such as implementing a cash-based budgeting approach, deploying a transparent and accountable grant process, and building a staff that can operate a “university-model” fundraising operation. We are on the right path.
A robust Board of Governors, creating a dynamic and stable forum to steward our resources.
Your Board of Governors is comprised of eighteen dedicated Brothers, representing a broad-spectrum of business and professional experience. In the past three years, we have worked hard to complement the existing talent with new members and ideas—creating a dynamic and stable forum to steward your Sigma Chi Foundation and guide us to excellence.
A university-model staff structure, capable and dedicated to realizing meaningful goals.
Under the leadership of our President and CEO, Greg Harbaugh, Purdue 1978, we havestructured our staff to operate a fundraising organization comparable to that of a medium-sized university. Our staff is actually smaller than it was three years ago as we have made significant changes to our structure and priorities. We positioned development officers regionally, for cost efficiency, and to increase our ability to communicate with all of our brothers. Additionally, and most importantly, our new structure enables us to soundly manage your financial resources and practice forward fiscal planning to avoid deficit spending, particularly in these troubled times.
A transparent grant process, emphasizing clear expectations and accountability.
We promote excellence in the programs we fund and our grant process requires Fraternity grant applications to clearly state program objectives, list expectations with delineated metrics, name responsible parties and provide detailed budgets. Our Grant Committee reviews each application, interviews program stakeholders, negotiates enhancements to expectations and tracks progress throughout the grant-funding year.
The Sigma Chi Foundation is fortunate to have you as a donor.
You are the most important part of what we do. Without your gifts and endorsement of our cause, we could not accomplish a thing. However, together, we can make our vision of excellence in scholarship and leadership the hallmark of Sigma Chi. Remember, we define leadership as Character in Action. I am proud to join with you in this worthy cause of constantly improving the inside of each Sigma Chi house. I am honored to call you Brother.
