Balfour LTW Set to Break Attendance Record

    June 2, 2010

More than 1,700 Sigs are expected to attend the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop (LTW) from July 29-31 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, up 6.25 percent from the previous year. The record-breaking number would include undergraduates as well as alumni volunteers and facilitators. Balfour LTW is Sigma Chi’s annual undergraduate leadership workshop for undergraduate chapter officers.

“Based on early registration, we seem to be on course toward registering more people than last year,” says Order of Constantine Sig J. Chris Brown, FURMAN 1989. “Overall, we’re very optimistic that the groundwork has been laid for a successful workshop.” Brown has been the chairman of the Balfour Leadership Operating Board, which offers oversight for Balfour LTW, since September 2009.

There were about 1,300 participants at the 2005 Balfour LTW. At the inaugural Leadership Training Workshop in 1947 at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, there were 215 undergraduate attendees. In recognition of the Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation’s support of the program, in 1997, it adopted the name of L. G. Balfour, INDIANA 1907.

Early registration for Balfour LTW ends June 15, 2010. To register, click here.
