"Thank you for awarding me a scholarship. As I'm sure you are all well aware, the financial burden of a college education can be quite substantial, and I appreciate your assistance in this area."

Bret Sommers Scholarship
The Bret Sommers Scholarship is named in honor of Bret Sommers, California–Berkeley 1995 and is offered to undergraduate members of the Alpha Beta Chapter.
Bret Sommers entered the Chapter Eternal in 2004 after a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis. While a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter, he served as Pro Consul, Quaestor and Annotator, while also working on a regular basis to help finance his education. His pledge brothers and the entire Alpha Beta Chapter remember him for his courage in the face of every type of adversity, his commitment to making the most of the time in his life and—most of all—his lifelong friendship.
Each award recipient receives a $2,500 educational grant.

Dr. George C. Ruhle Outstanding Scholar Award
This award draws its nominees from the roster of Order of the Scroll recipients and honors Sigma Chi's top undergraduate scholar. Dr. George C. Ruhle, Montana & Yale 1931, was a Significant Sig and member of the Order of Constantine. He was also one of the Foundation's biggest supporters from its inception. Order of the Scroll Award winners are automatically eligible for the Ruhle Award, so a separate application is not needed. Scholarship recipients will be notified in August 2010.
